A good friend of mine wrote this and I agree:

Being a true friend is a lot of work. It requires compassion and understanding, but also enough Caritas to want to see ones fellows succeed in every endeavor. This some times requires Gravitas. No one likes finding out that the mask one wears isn't as opaque as they had wished it was. Thank gods for that.
Being my friend is going to hurt some times. Both of us. When I have had enough of pampering your vices, I will look you in the eye and tell you that you are insincere, lazy, uncommitted to the ideals you supposedly hold like some banner requiring praise. If you can't take the heat, get out of my kitchen - because it gets HOT here, and surround yourself with the fair weathered friends that don't care what sort of person you are provided you don't call them on their own vices. There are plenty of people like that in the world.

I'm a Catholic...and I smile a lot.
I don't view politics as religion, and furthermore, my politics don't fit neatly into anyone's party platform.
I don't believe that any political system is perfect, but I detest Communism.
If this is a problem for you, oh well...I'm not here to be anyone's clone.
On September 3, 2005 I had the honor of marrying the most wonderful woman on the planet.
We raise our Granddaughter, who is a joy!
We live high in the mountains of Southern California...6,300 feet up, baybay! :-)

I am a conservative on many BUT NOT ALL issues. However...and this may come as a shock...I have many friends who are **gasp** other than conservative. Worse yet, I refuse to hate you if you differ with me on politics or religion, and the ultimate insult, I'll probably be nice to you, treat you with respect, care about how you're doing, etc. :-)
